Sam R. Starnes spent 34 years as an aerospace engineer designing rocket motors — the kind of precision work that leaves no room for error. When he retired, he brought that same obsessive attention to craft to something far more fragrant.
In 1994, Sam founded Star Mountain Roasters in Salt Lake City, Utah. Three decades later, the Starnes family still does 100% of the roasting themselves — every single batch. No outsourcing. No shortcuts. Just the family, the beans, and the fire.
